How IARC Works
A new app or digital game
is created.
Developer prepares to publish it on a participating IARC storefront.
Developer is asked to complete the IARC questionnaire to obtain ratings.
Once the questionnaire is completed, IARC assigns the appropriate Age Rating, Content Descriptors, and Interactive Elements by region.
Interactive Elements provide upfront notice about the ability to make in-game purchases (including randomized ones), interact with other users, share users’ location, and access the Internet.
Storefront ingests and maps ratings for display to users in their respective region.
Users can view regional ratings for games and apps that are familiar and trusted and reflect local cultural norms.
IARC rating authorities monitor ratings assigned to ensure accuracy.
Corrections, if needed, are promptly implemented using APIs with storefronts.
Developer can use their IARC rating certificate ID when publishing their game or app on other IARC storefronts.
Developers only have to complete the IARC questionnaire once. Other IARC storefronts will be able to access all of the game or app rating information using the IARC certificate ID.
