IARC Milestones

2013

The International Age Rating Coalition (IARC) launches with 4 initial participating rating authorities: ClassInd (Brazil), ESRB (North America), PEGI (Europe), and USK (Germany).

2014

IARC begins assigning ratings to games and apps on Mozilla’s Firefox Marketplace.

2015

The Australian Classification Board becomes an IARC participating rating authority.

The Nintendo eShop deploys the IARC rating system for all digitally delivered video games and apps.

Google Play deploys the IARC rating system in North America, with the rest of the world to follow shortly thereafter.

2016

The Microsoft Store for Windows and Xbox deploys the IARC rating system for all digitally delivered games and apps.

2017

The Oculus Store (aka Meta Quest) deploys the IARC rating system for all VR games and apps.

GRAC in the Republic of Korea signs on as a participating rating authority in the IARC rating system.

2018

The PlayStation Store deploys IARC to display ratings for all digitally delivered games, including for PlayStation VR.

2019

The Origin Store deploys the IARC rating system for all digitally delivered games.

2021

Google Stadia deploys the IARC rating system for all digitally delivered video games.

2022

Amazon Luna deploys the IARC rating system for its cloud subscription gaming service.

The PICO Store deploys the IARC rating system for its VR games and other experiences.

2023

The Epic Games Store deploys the IARC rating system for games available on its PC storefront.

Fortnite deploys the IARC rating system for all creator-produced Islands and other experiences.

DGSC in Taiwan signs on as a participating rating authority.

2024

DGSC in Taiwan starts assigning ratings in the IARC rating system.

IGRS in Indonesia signs on as a participating rating authority.

Gmedia (formerly known as GCAM) in Saudi Arabia signs on as a participating rating authority.

ONE store deploys the IARC rating system for all digitally delivered games and non-game apps.

2025

Facebook Gaming deploys the IARC rating system for all digitally delivered games.
